How to Delete a Google Account

However, it is essential to note that deleting your Google account will also remove access to various Google services associated with that account, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, and more. Sign in to Your Google Account

The first step is to sign in to the Google account you wish to delete. Open your preferred web browser and go to google.com. Click on the “Sign In” button located in the top right corner of the page. Enter your email address and password associated with the account you want to delete, and then click “Next” to proceed.

Access Google Account Settings

Once you have signed in to your Google account, click on your profile picture or initial, which is typically located in the top right corner of the page. A drop-down menu will appear. From the menu, select “Manage your Google Account.”

Navigate to the Data & Personalization Section

In the Google Account settings, you will see various options and sections. Locate and click on the “Data & Personalization” tab in the left-hand sidebar. This section allows you to manage your data and privacy settings.

Scroll Down to the Download, Delete, or Make a Plan for Your Data Section

Scroll down the page until you find the “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data” section. This section provides options for managing your data, including deleting your Google account.

Delete a Service or Your Google Account

Within the “Download, delete, or make a plan for your data” section, click on the “Delete a service or your account” link. You will be directed to a new page where you can manage your Google account deletion.

On the new page, you will see several options related to managing your account. To proceed with deleting your Google account, click on the “Delete your Google Account” link.

Review the Checkboxes and Select the Data to Save

  1. Gmail: By selecting this checkbox, you can save your email messages and attachments from your Gmail account. The saved data will be downloaded in MBOX format, which is compatible with various email clients.
  2. Google Drive: Checking this checkbox will enable you to save your files and folders stored in Google Drive. You can download them in their original format or convert them to a different format if desired.
  3. Google Photos: If you have uploaded photos and videos to Google Photos, selecting this checkbox allows you to save them. Google Photos offers options to download your media in their original quality or in a slightly compressed format to reduce file size.
  4. Google Calendar: By checking this box, you can save your events and appointments from Google Calendar. The saved data will be downloaded in ICS format, which can be imported into other calendar applications.
  5. Google Contacts: Selecting this checkbox will enable you to save your contact list from Google Contacts. The contacts will be downloaded in VCF format, which is compatible with various contact management systems.
  6. Google Play Books: If you have purchased or uploaded books to Google Play Books, you can save them by checking this checkbox. The books will be downloaded in EPUB format, which is a widely supported ebook format.
  7. Google Play Movies & TV: By selecting this checkbox, you can save your purchased or rented movies and TV shows from Google Play. The saved media will be downloaded in their original format.
  8. Google Play Music: If you have uploaded or purchased music from Google Play Music, checking this box allows you to save your music library. The music will be downloaded in MP3 format, which is compatible with various music players.
  9. Other Google data: This checkbox covers additional data associated with your Google account, such as your Google Fit data, Google Pay information, Google News preferences, and more. Checking this box will save the selected additional data.
